ARGENTINA: Zonaindie
Eloisa Lopez – Espiral
This is one of Zonaindie’s favorite tracks from 2009. It was taken from Eloisa’s third album, Por Un Paisaje. Maybe we like her so much because she manages to elegantly combine acoustic textures with native South American percussions and digital sounds. Espiral is a great example of this, and yet an unbelievably catchy tune that has Leo García as a guest vocalist. What else could you ask for?

AUSTRALIA: Who The Bloody Hell Are They?
Kite Club – Royal Gums
Royal Gums is one of those tracks that grabs you straight away and drags you along for three minutes thanks to its chanting hooks and penchant for large-scale production. It opens with a beat lifted from Psychocandy and an explosion of layered vocals but then settles into a calming, meditative refrain, just letting the melody and harmonies carry the song. Kite Club (aka Nicholas Futcher) marries the laptop trickery to the tune without letting it control the song nor detract from its melodic core.

BRAZIL: Meio Desligado
Barulhista – Indieota
When it comes to avant-garde music in Brazil, Barulhista (which means something like “noise follower”) is certainly an artist to keep an eye on. His electro-acoustic sounds encompass experimental electronica and more concrete music both in his solo songs and in the soundtracks he composes. Indiota (a mix of “indie” and “idiot” in Portuguese) is as close to pop as he has ever been.

CANADA: I(Heart)Music
Novels – No Hard Feelings
A supergroup of sorts featuring members of Born Ruffians, Tokyo Police Club and Will Currie & The Country French among others, Novels quietly released their self-titled debut EP into the world around Christmas. As No Hard Feelings (not to mention the other four tracks) demonstrates, it totally lives up to its pedigree. The album is full of catchy, 70s-inspired pop and it makes the EP well worth a (free!) download.

CHILE: Super 45
Moreno – Pica
Moreno is the new darling of Chilean indie-rock. With a powerful and psychedelic sound, Giancarlo Landini’s project – he plays every instrument on record and has a backing band for live shows – is inspired by lo-fi legends such as Lou Barlow (Sebadoh), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr) and Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), with a classic flavor.

CHINA: Wooozy
Mosaic – Sunshine Train
Mosaic are one of the new generation of bands from Chengdu. They were called GT6 before they changed their name in 2008. At the end of last year they successfully completed a tour of China through 10 cities. Although they haven’t released a full-length album, they are definitely worth a listen.

COLOMBIA: Colombia Urbana
Rayo y Toby – Manitas Mágicas
After trying with different partners, Rayo and Toby finally realized they themselves were the perfect combination. The duo mix good urban music with a shot of melody and their approach is both fresh and unsettling.

DENMARK: All Scandinavian
Before The Show – Gabriel
Before The Show was originally a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Laurids Smedegaard, who often worked on his own songs just hours before he went on stage with any one of the numerous other bands he’s involved in (hence the band name). Now a quintet, Before The Show are working on getting their debut released and until that happens we can all enjoy this excellent taste of what’s to come.

ENGLAND: The Daily Growl
Jose Vanders – For Now
Jose Vanders is a piano-playing chanteuse who is less eccentric than Regina Spektor and smarter than Kate Nash, but with even more doe-eyed, curly-haired cuteness. For Now shows off her gift for melody and picture-book lyrics, albeit on a ukulele instead of her usual piano. Jose has released three exquisite EPs in each of the past three years, aged 17, 18 and 19. Surely fame beckons at 20.

ESTONIA: Popop
Barthol Lo Mejor – Windshield Pfeiffer
Barthol Lo Mejor makes popdada music – experiments with electro rhythms and unconventional sounds including pieces of conversations, cliches, old movies and anime cartoons. His music is considered effective for recovering from hard drug addiction. Windshield Pfeiffer is part of the K8 MOSH EP, available for free download here

FINLAND: Glue
Kiki Pau – An Old Song
After their well-receive debut Let’s Rock, Kiki Pau return with a fantastic sophomore album to be released in early March. A MAP exclusive, An Old Song is the opening track of White Mountain and shows a more guitar-driven band with uplifting spirits. Those following the Nordic indie scene will hear about this band quite a lot this year because the whole album is a keeper that channels the classic sound of T.Rex, The Velvet Underground and left-field US guitar gods such as Pavement and Guide By Voices without forgetting a twist of Finnish pop.

FRANCE: ZikNation
Satine – Iron Güm
Drawing inspiration from northern poptronica (Under Byen, Mùm, Efterklang) and electro rock bands (Radiohead, The Notwist), Satine gave birth to their first intimate yet powerful tracks in 2004. Live, the band unfolds a dreamlike visual universe with video projections and light shows that make every concert a unique experience. But it’s always deep, beautiful and organic.

GERMANY: Blogpartei
Napoli Is Not Nepal – Beneath A Setting Sun
Napoli Is Not Nepal is the solo project of Cologne-based Hendryk Martin. What he calls ‘electro nihilism’, I’d call outstanding ambient electro with some eclectic moments. Although Beneath A Setting Sun was released in mid-2009 as part of the album Boredom Is Always Counterrevolutionary, it’s still quite a statement for the growing influence of music that sits between ambient and indie.

GREECE: Mouxlaloulouda
Etten – Clockwork Skies
Etten, former lead singer of the Greek band Film, weaves her tales of hope and dreams in a warm bearskin coat of pop sensibilities. Her voice offers the moods ‘light and shade’, while production touches colorfully paint enchanting pictures. Dark, but never needlessly so, I Know You’re Behind Me But I’m Not Scared is an intoxicating, addictive debut that offers a rich, distinct world of lullabies, spacey timbres and ghostly beauty. It blends brittle, 80s-influenced electro and Knife-inspired synths with buzzing basslines, guitars and samples in a sound that’s both atmospheric and richly textured.

ICELAND: I Love Icelandic Music
Mammut – Svefnsykt
Mammut were formed in 2003 by two boys and three girls, aged 14-16. David Fricke of Rolling Stone magazine called them “a really good band”. They played SXSW in 2007 and toured with dEUS in Iceland and Germany. In 2008, Mammut released their second album, Karkari, through Icelandic label Record Records. Svefnsykt was its first single.

INDIA: Indiecision
Noush Like Sploosh – 3 Act Circus
Noush Like Sploosh is one of the most promising hopefuls of India’s growing, urban singer-songwriter scene. Armed with a dry wit and a musical sensibility falling somewhere between Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap, Noush Like Sploosh’s music is refreshing indie-pop that’s lyrical yet largely accessible. 3 Act Circus brings together myriad references, a laid-back ambient pop vibe and Ms Sploosh’s positively delectable vocals.

INDONESIA: Deathrockstar
RNRM – Zsa Zsa Zsu
RNRM are one of the finest electronic acts to have emerged from Indonesia’s underground and have earned praised in several music scenes, from punk-rock to high-class dance clubs. Their latest record, Outbox, was listed as one of the best albums of the last decade by Deathrockstar.

IRELAND: Nialler9
Autumn Owls – Raindrops In The River
Autumn Owls are a Dublin four-piece who have been honing their brand of nocturnal atmospheric rock songs since 2006. With two burgeoning and impressive EPs released and a debut album on the way, the band will travel to Austin this year to play the SXSW festival. Watch out for these guys in 2010.

ITALY: Polaroid
København Store – Strangers
The main quality of København Store’s music is its ability to build a layered and monumental sound with an incredibly strong emotional impact. There is something vast about the band, as if they could throw their songs for miles and miles. Strangers is taken from the forthcoming release, Hi. The new album will be the first chapter of a trilogy.

JAPAN: JPOP Lover
LITE – The Sun Sank
LITE are one of the most enthusiastic live bands in Tokyo. They are often compared to Battles and Mogwai, and combine math-rock power and precision with emotionally-charged compositions. They will be doing a U.S. west coast tour with Mike Watt & The Missingmen in March. The Sun Sank is taken from their latest EP, Turns Red.

MEXICO: Red Bull PanameriKa
Furland – Quiero Ser Un Color
Furland are famous for having a huge grass-ball on stage, this Mexico City quartet dream of tripping to a place where strawberry fields stretch forever. On their proper debut, La Historia de la Luz, they explore the eternal message of love through light, sound… and a banjo. Quiero Ser Un Color is the first single off a 360-degree work filled with lush orchestrations, majestic vibes and acidic lyrics stuffed with cotton candy – food for thought.

NETHERLANDS: Amsterdam Event Guide
Moon & Sun – Ashes
To escape from the harsh winter we need some music that draws pictures of summer hazy beaches, endless days and warm nights. Enter the gorgeous Moon & Sun from Amsterdam. Their whimsical, sexy sound merges with a slightly more eerie tone of the vocal melodies and harmonies between frontlady Monica Tormell and her accompanying musicians. Playing a mix of piano, drums, guitars and steel drums, Moon & Sun have definitely got the 2010 sound down with their Caribbean sensibilities.

NEW ZEALAND: Counting The Beat
Pumice – Greenock
New Zealand’s best one-man band multi-instrumentalist psych-noise outfit is Pumice, the pseudonym of Stefan Neville. One of Pumice’s best albums, 2007’s Pebbles, is about to get a vinyl release on Soft Abuse Records. Wheezing organ and guitar feedback combine in album centrepiece Greenock, named after the Scottish village Neville’s ancestors originated from.

NORWAY: Eardrums
Team Me – Weathervanes And Chemicals
Team Me play warm and rich orchestrated pop music in the same vein as Sufjan Stevens, Efterklang, Hjaltalin or Sigur Rós. This used to be Marius D. Hagen’s one-man band – a recording project where he could play the songs that didn’t fit in his other bands. But Team Me has grown into a seven-strong orchestra and the fragile acoustic songs Hagen used to play have been transformed into a much larger and richer sound. Hagen is also a member of alternative rock band Jaqueline and half of semi-electronic pop duo SiN along with Tord Øverland Knudsen of English band The Wombats. SiN will release their debut album later this year and hopefully we’ll also get a release from Team Me in 2010.

PERU: SoTB
Rafo De La Cuba – Freak Profesional
Rafo De La Cuba has left anonymity to become an idol of Web 2.0. His home demos skip from ear to ear so it was no surprise that someone so talented could not stay hidden. Influenced by The Beatles, his songs tell simply of life – intimate stories turned into melancholic, but not sad, poetry. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to hear new material, with his debut LP due to be released soon.

PORTUGAL: Posso Ouvir Um Disco?
Jasmin Jones – Lost In Rainbows
Jasmin Jones, whose mother is Portuguese, was born in Australia and lived in different countries during her childhood. She is a surfer and nature lover. Her debut album Beyond The Clouds will be released this year, even though she didn’t find a label to represent her. Jasmin currently lives in Lisbon and besides her solo career, she is the vocalist for Triplet, a rock band.

ROMANIA: Babylon Noise
Kumm – Pop Song
Kumm started 12 years ago as an art-rock band. Much like their influences, Sonic Youth and Spritualized, they have developed a new approach to rock by constantly experimenting with various sounds and styles. Their latest album, Far From Telescopes, is a refreshing pop experience, a new episode of their music journey – far from their roots and closer to simpler things. This is a band that has grown up by getting younger.

SCOTLAND: The Pop Cop
Werd – Breakdown
Even if you’re just a casual hip hop listener, you owe it to yourself to give Werd a spin. The 22-year-old’s rhymes are as cunningly creative as they are uncompromising and he executes them with such furious, stylish precision. You can (and should) download everything the Edinburgh rapper has done for free from his Bandcamp page. In the meantime, the irresistible force of sub-two-minute track Breakdown will leave you wanting more… which is the point, yes?

SINGAPORE: I’m Waking Up To…
Stellarium – Chocolate & Strawberry
Stellarium are a shoegaze band, and that’s all you need to know. Instead of updating a familiar sound, they do something even more commendable by playing shoegaze as if it never went away. The moment the fuzz bass comes in during Chocolate & Strawberry, you’re caught in the band’s intricate web of white noise, ghostly reverb and cryptic vocals. Overall, the whole thing sounds like a long shutter exposure speeding past bright lights. Bliss.

SOUTH AFRICA: Musical Mover & Shaker!
Dans Republic – Afrikaans
Dans Republic is the coming together of two groups – Flash Republic, a band with the ability to set the dancefloors alight, and Foto Na Dans, who are breaking the boundaries of Afrikaans music with their own signature style. Their electro-tinged song Afrikaans showcases and merges the English and Afrikaans genre. It blends their unique styles seamlessly into something that is dreamy, indie, rock and electro all at once, yet never compromises each band’s sound.

SOUTH KOREA: Indieful ROK
The Pony – Disturbance
Four-member indie-rock band The Pony released their first full-length album, Pony, last year. Full of well-produced tracks, it offers plenty of variety. Disturbance is a catchy, energetic song with great hooks to keep the listener coming back for more.

SPAIN: Oscuro Magazine
Estereotypo – The Big Fake
Estereotypo are one of those pop-rock bands with which you can’t remain indifferent. It’s best to see them live, where their power and presence are reminiscent of bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Faint, Foals or Delorean. Based in Santander, their second album, Love Your City, is out this month and The Big Fake embodies the powerful sound of this great indie band.

SWEDEN: Swedesplease
Staphan O’Bell – On The Rooftop
This song is great example of romantic swirling pop à la Rufus Wainwright. It’s one of three songs that are available from Stockholm resident Staphan O’Bell’s forthcoming album. If On The Rooftop is any indication then that album will be one to keep an eye out for.

UNITED STATES: I Guess I’m Floating
Toro Y Moi – Thanks Vision
Toro Y Moi is the solo work of South Carolinian Chaz Bundick. Hailing from the college town of Columbia, Bundick creates distorted lo-fi pop music that warmly floats between your ears like something beautiful you’d stumble across while sifting through static radio waves.

VENEZUELA: Barquisimento
Atkinson – Pais Tropical
Wincho Schäfer, Erik Aldrey and Rafael Cadavieco are musicians from famous Venezuelan bands Desorden Publico, Zapato 3 and Amigos Invisibles who decided to join talents in this interesting project called Atkinson. They launched their first production last March and since then they’ve been touring the country amazing new fans with smart lyrics and clean but catchy pop-rock. Pais Tropical is a musical explanation of the socio-political particularities of Venezuela.

Para la edición del mes de Diciembre, la revista Welcome, reconocida publicación que circula en el caribe Colombiano, cierra con una muy buena crónica sobre el duo San Andresano “Hety and Zambo”. Nos resulta muy agradable ver como la buena música urbana es foco de investigación por parte de otros medios de comunicación. Esto le hace un favor inmenso a la popularidad de la música urbana Colombiana, y deja ver que todavía existen buenas alternativas de lectura, y medios que proyectan de manera crónica y periodística la imagen de los artistas del país.

Coiffeur – Humedad
Coiffeur is not the name of a band, but the alias of a young folk singer and songwriter from Morón, a city in the greater Buenos Aires area). Humedad is one of the finest songs from his third album, El Tonel De Las Danaides, which was released this year by Estamos Felices (Argentina’s coolest independent label, you should check them out).

AUSTRALIA: Who The Bloody Hell Are They?
Toecutter – Best Party Ever (Jordan Lightyear & Jimmy2sox remix)
Best Party Ever pretty much sums up Toecutter, a man called David Harris from Milano, New South Wales who creates dancefloor-friendly progressive house music. Apparently, Toecutter has been sitting on this song since 1984 when he recorded the hook onto a cassette and then spent 25 years deliberating on its merits.

CANADA: I(Heart)Music
The Property Line – The Start
The Property Line have only been around a few months but they’ve been building quite a local following with their brand of psychedelia-tinged country-rock. Their EP (which is available for free download on their site) is pretty strong, and nowhere is it stronger than on The Start, in which the band infuses a little Sufjan into their sound, with absolutely stunning results.

CHILE: Super 45
Gen – ¿Qué Le Pasó A Mi Rap
Es is the latest album by Gen (Freddy Olguin). Putting together amazing beats, social critique rhymes and sounds from another dimension, the Chilean rapper has taken the experience of listening to hip hop to a whole new level. An army of producers has helped him develop a very distinctive personality for his record, which can be compared to the sound of Flying Lotus, Subtle or even The RZA, with the result something nothing short of future-like music. It’s refreshing, experimental and highly exciting.

CHINA: Wooozy
Today – Before Ending
Before Ending is taken from Today’s debut album which was released last year. They are searching for hope and happiness by watching everyone’s love life as a third person. You won’t feel lonely after listening to their songs. The band’s new album, Live The Life, will be out soon.

COLOMBIA: Colombia Urbana
Miss Muffin – Bways ‘n’ Gyals
What happens if you put together Juan Valdez and Bob Marley? Well, the answer to this experiment can be given by Isabella Escobar aka Miss Muffin, the known name for this promising talent of Colombian reggae. Originating from Antioquia, with Caribbean blood, Miss Muffin has released Hear This, an album that explores in a curious manner the various possibilities of reggae.

DENMARK: All Scandinavian
Eumig & Chinon – This Fang
The last Danish track of 2009 is also a MAP exclusive. Eumig & Chinon aka Christian Kastbjerg has kindly provided this kickass piece of funky housetronica titled This Fang, which will be on his debut EP coming out sometime next year. You’ve got to groove.

ENGLAND: The Daily Growl
Banjo Or Freakout – Upside Down
I’m bending the rules a little this month because Alessio Natalizia, who trades under the name Banjo Or Freakout, is Italian – but he’s based in London so we can claim him as our own. Just as well because his awesome soundtracks, all wrapped up in a dreamy melodious electronic haze, are worth breaking down national boundaries for.

ESTONIA: Popop
Malcolm Lincoln – Me Iz Loaded With Zoul
Malcolm Lincoln has been active only for about a month so there’s not much of a biography yet. The band is the brainchild of Robin Juhkental, who is joined by Madis Kubu aka Fretless Rämbu for live shows. Five more songs are downloadable here.

FINLAND: Glue
Rex Willer – My Girl
Rex Willer is a five-piece indie band who recorded the excellent Inner Moray Scenes EP at their home studio earlier this year. Influenced by My Morning Jacket, Steely Dan and Death Cab For Cutie, they are driven by groovy bass lines and old-school keyboard sounds, without forgetting good guitar licks. Let yourself be caught by the irresistible melody of My Girl while Rex Willer finishes some new material due out early next year.

FRANCE: ZikNation
Michael Wookey – Songs About Snow
At the age of 15, Michael Wookey was given a portable pump organ which belonged to his grandfather, who was an organist during World War II. This instrument inspired Michael to write some songs and start collecting obscure instruments. Now 26, he has released three albums and by using a portable studio, he has recorded in various sheds, basements and meat lockers. He now lives in the red light district of Paris. The French describe his music as folk baroque.

GERMANY: Blogpartei
Dobré – The Melody Is A Stranger
Sometimes you realise within minutes what creative potential a musician has, and Dobré comes into that category. Usually found playing eclectic indie-folk with his mates Sepp Kennedy, he just released a ‘best of’ solo record called Tools ‘n’ Toys which you can download here. The Melody Is A Stranger is a downtempo piece of indie which strongly reminds me of early Peter Gabriel.

GREECE: Mouxlaloulouda
2-L8 – Excuse Me, But I Just Have To Explode (Part II)
2-L8’s second release – He & She, Angry Enough To Keep Loving In The Dark Ages (download it for free here) – is a masterpiece of avant-garde music that truly haunts the mind. It’s a passionate experience, leading the listener into excruciating catharsis – you look into the eyes of two lovers and see nothing but painful regret. It’s exhilarating and rare to hear such florid arrangements based on sharp stringed instruments and theremin, trembling, frantically passionate vocals, desperate and bleak lyrics coupled with a sense of hope and all of them laced with uncompromising experimentation, true emotional resonance and weight. A total seductive triumph.

ICELAND: I Love Icelandic Music
Morðingjarnir – Manvisa
Punk-rock trio Morðingjarnir (“The Murderers”) play fast and sharp three-to-four chord songs, often with some dark humour. Atli, Haukur and Helgi are influenced by Dead Kennedys and local punk heroes Fræbbblarnir. Manvisa is a song featured on their third album, Flóttinn Mikli, with guest vocals from Kata of the band Mammút.

INDIA: Indiecision
The Mavyns – Greener Than The Sea
The Mavyns (pronounced “May-wins”) are a rock act from Mumbai. Their music is a particularly refreshing take on the new British post-punk revival. Powered by piano-driven melodies and a charming disposition, the recently-formed quartet already look set for greater things. Greener Than The Sea makes no bones about its Beatles affectations culminating in a dizzying guitar romp. This live recording from an excellent recent set in the city is a definite sign of a career path that looks to be going only one way – up!

INDONESIA: Deathrockstar
Tika & The Dissidents – Waltz Muram
Known as the diva from the indie scene in Indonesia, Tika has a beautiful voice and smart lyrics with influences ranging from swing and lounge music mashed with eclectic orchestration. I chose her and her band this month because I also want to promote Bahasa Indonesia, the official language of the country.

IRELAND: Nialler9
O Emperor – Po
After an impressive appearance on Irish TV and some blog love from The Torture Garden, Cork band O Emperor are definitely on the ‘ones to watch’ list. Especially, though, after repeated plays of their debut single, Po, an unassuming number that reveals itself on multiple listens thanks to its snaking ephemeral guitar lick and a vocal that lodges in your brain for 24 hours at a time.

ITALY: Polaroid
The Calorifer Is Very Hot! – Evolution On Stand-By
Italy is well known for its Prime Minister’s various conflicts of interest. For this month’s MAP I decided to act in a diplomatic way and promote a band and record that I helped to release. I could tell you that I believe these guys play some of the best indie-pop in this country. I could tell you that their lo-fi punk attitude to songwriting deserves worldwide attention. I could beg you to go to see them live and promise that you will have fun. But these would be all lies. They’re here just because I put my money in their new album – buy it!

JAPAN: JPOP Lover
Sonic Attack Blaster – 20000Volt
Sonic Attack Blaster, an alternative band from Tokyo’s underground scene, call their music ’samurai rock’. Their songs actually have Japanese retro melody lines that give them an early-90s feel. Interesting and really rather weird. Their new album will be released in January.

MEXICO: Red Bull PanameriKa
Rana Santacruz – Cajita De Barro
Rana Santacruz’s richness lies deep in Mexican soil: a buried treasure of plundered Celtic tunes, ranchera-song lamentations and magical-realistic folktales that could have been part of a lost chapter from a rural cuento written by Juan Rulfo. Chicavasco is his debut album – a delicate collection of bohemian vignettes permeated by a true sensorial feel of rain, leather and mezcal. Watch him come up the hills and down the slopes as he slowly claims his place among one of our favourite singer-songwriters.

NETHERLANDS: Amsterdam Event Guide
The Very Sexuals – Bowie Eyes
Hallo from Holland! This is our first submission and we’re happy to introduce The Very Sexuals. Starting out as a project between three or four other bands, this act have come together to produce an impressive, emotive and totally free album which has left listeners in dreamy shoegaze heaven since its release earlier this year. Be sure to download Bowie Eyes and look out for album number two in 2010.

Bevan Smith is the musician who records as Signer. Smith started out as an indie-guitar fan but gave that up for psychedelic electronica and synths. His latest album, Next We Bring You The Fire, has a more ambient sound than earlier records, toning down some of the more leftfield noise elements. +Kicks And Kicks isn’t that typical of the album – it’s poppier and more rhythmic – but gives a good introduction to Signer’s ability to create music which is accessible but slightly unsettling.

Wow, it was a no-brainer this month. Symfoniorkestern are a uniquely Swedish group. They are like an indie-rock band but with a grab-bag of unusual orchestration, lyrics in Swedish and lovely harmonies. The new EP, Tänd Eld På Dig Själv (För Det Du Tror På), is available here for free in its awesome, spellbinding entirety. The band spent a year and a half recording it – I only wish I could somehow give this review the same amount of care.

Se que lo prometí, desde el articulo sobre el artista llamado “Fainal” o “Final” (nunca supe como se se escribía) decidí no volver a hacer post directos, de hecho la sección de A FONDO se ha convertido en una lanzadera de artículos mas sociales. Pero para romper una promesa, se necesita y se que muchos cuando terminen de leer esto, me van a dar la razón.

La denuncia es una herramienta y derecho de todo ser humano, la libre expresión es la madrina de la denuncia e internet, su padrino. Es por eso, que hoy hago uso de ese derecho de expresarnos libremente frente a lo que consideramos esta mal, por que este espacio no es susceptible a censura, es mas bien un espacio de lectura, así que sin mas rodeos los pongo al tanto:

El señor Jacob Bush, mas conocido como Dj Buxxi o Buxxy o Bupsi (en realidad no me importa) ha rebosado la copa, le digo “Señor” no por que lo sea (creanme, le falta mucho), se lo digo por que una persona a los 24 años ya es susceptible a ser tratado como un adulto, pero lastimosamente…. a este personaje le falto crianza y tal vez unas buenas nalgadas de parte de sus padres.

Como bien saben, la sección de A fondo recibe diariamente información sobre lo que sucede en el movimiento musical urbano, de Colombia. Desde hace ya varios meses, la insistencia sobre este articulo era casi que obligatoria por parte de algunos usuarios, todas las quejas tenían a alguien en común, esa persona, obviamente es buxxi, que de un tiempo para acá inicio su “escalada” comercial en ciertas ciudades.

PECADO NUMERO 1: NO ROBARAS !!!

Entonces, resulta que la evidencia no se hace esperar, y sucede el primer capitulo del cual fui notificado por mis amigos Dj’s en la ciudad de Medellín. La reconocida canción “Contra La Pared” interpretada por Jiggy D., Curry (Del duo S.A Finest) y Zambo (del duo Hety and Zambo) comenzó a ubicarse rápidamente en las discotecas de la ciudad, hasta el punto de terminar en la radio por solicitud de la audiencia. Acto seguido el señor buxxi se fue para la ciudad de Medellin a vender shows aprovechando el “boom” de la canción, pero el pecado viene acá, resulta que el mismo se presentaba como EL INTERPRETE de la canción !!!, Si, así como lo leen, el mismo cantaba la parte de todos los artistas, y peor aun !!! Sin su consentimiento, de este capitulo fuimos notificados por los diferentes Dj’s de las discotecas Karma, Deluxe y Pharmacy, así como de la gente de Rumba Stereo Medellin, quienes terminaron de confirmar que buxxi fue a presentarse como el autor e interprete de la canción.

Uno de los verdaderos interpretes de la canción (no hago publico su nombre pues no tengo autorización), se traslado a la ciudad a hacer promoción, y finalmente se dio cuenta de la cruda realidad, la plaza había sido explotada por un usurpador, el cual había cobrado, comercializado y prácticamente traficado musicalmente una canción pegada sin derecho de sus interpretes.

A ver señor Buxxi, de casualidad a usted no le enseñaron que eso se llama ROBAR ???, Si la información que tengo es correcta, usted fue solamente el creador de la pista musical de dicho track, eso no le da derecho a interpretar la canción, y ademas usurpar la identidad de los verdaderos interpretes, mas aun cuando hay dinero de por medio. Tuvo usted la delicadeza de darles alguna participación económica a los 3 interpretes del “Hit” musical? OBVIO QUE NO !!, con esto se demuestra que existía una MALA INTENCION pues mas importante que el mismo dinero, es la dignidad del artista y usted paso por encima de ella.

Y como acá no se acusa por que “si” o por que “nos dijeron”, les dejo la prueba reina:

Se puede ver claramente en el Flyer, que la publicidad hace ver a “Buxxi” (por que el otro no se quien es) como el interprete de la canción, y no solo de Contra la pared, si no también de Jumping the line, entonces que? Como dicen los comentarios en Facebook (que fue allí donde encontré la foto); Las canciones se cantan solas o que?, esto es un engaño publico al 100%, que le hace daño a la imagen del artista, y ademas atenta contra su dignidad.

O que presentación puede tener el hecho, de que cuando llegue el verdadero artista a promocionarse, se encuentre con que un impostor estuvo haciendo de las suyas, ha?

PECADO NUMERO 2: NO CODICIARAS LOS BIENES AJENOS

Dandole continuidad a todos estos actos de mala fé, seguimos con otro que es bastante agravante. Y es que cuando se tiene codicia, es por que se sufre de una gran envidia. Envidia, que se ha visto manifestada en llegar a algo que yo personalmente considero RIDICULO, me refiero a la payola, articulo el cual ya abordamos en publicaciones pasadas, pero que para estas circunstancias no se ni como referirme.

Pues resulta que la modalidad de buxxy ahora mismo, es llevar la “payola” de la radio, a la discoteca…. Si, así como lo leen, las practicas de este personaje ahora están contaminando las cabinas de los djs de bares y discotecas, a ver buxxi, es tanta tu envidia que ahora es necesario pagar para que no suene la música de los demás? Es decir, musicalmente tu producto es tan pobre que necesitas ir a sobornar los bolsillos de algunos incautos? Mas patético aun, ir a “payolear” a un bar?

Yo de verdad no entiendo que tipo de frustraciones tiene que tener alguien en su cabeza, para terminar ejerciendo estas ridículas practicas, lo que mas tristeza me da, es que Islas como San Andres y providencia, que se han mantenido al margen de la malvada practica de la payola, ahora sean víctimas de un un tipo como este que viene a contaminarlas.

Mas patético que pagar por “sonar”, es pagar para que “otros” no suenen !!!, entonces Sr. Buxxi, aliste una GRAN cantidad de dinero, pues comprar la conciencia de todos los que escuchamos buena música, le va a salir “un poquito” caro.

Por mi parte solo le diré, que en vez de estar comprando el bolsillo de algunos incautos, mejor invierta en un libro de “ETICA PROFESIONAL” que seguramente va a enriquecer su vida, ya que todo esto, son solo intentos desesperados, pues cuando el talento es evidente, NO HAY PAYOLA QUE VALGA !! eso esta demostrado.

PECADO NUMERO 3: NO DIRAS FALSO TESTIMONIO, NI MENTIRAS

Y es que siguiendo con la colección de “cagadas” de este personaje, tenemos que llegar a otro momento, en donde a principios del 2008 se inicio el Reggaeton Fest en San Andres, el cual comenzó a ser promocionado utilizando a el duo San Andresano “Hety and Zambo”, hasta acá no hay nada raro. Lo “curioso” del asunto, era que EL MISMO DUO NO SABIA !!!, entonces volvemos a lo mismo Dj Buxxi a punta de mentiras y engaños empieza a utilizar la imagen, marca o nombre del que técnicamente de “papaya” para el hacer de las suyas. Hay derecho en esto?, será que definitivamente el genero urbano siempre va a contar con este tipo de personas aprovechadas y maquiavélicas hasta cierto punto.

Quiero finalizar esta entrada sin miedo a decir la verdad, como lo dije en la entrada del articulo Esto es internet !!!, acá no hay censura, acá se expresa una opinión, y así muchos la consideren fuerte, atacante, acida o venenosa, la realidad es una sola. No quiero hacer parte de esos que ven como suceden las cosas y simplemente callan, con tanta información me he dado cuenta de que todos estos temas son de dominio publico, y sencillamente todos prefieren estar callados. Que pasa con el movimiento urbano de Colombia? para decir las cosas buenas, siempre hay ánimos, siempre hay disposición, pero y para decir las malas? para denunciar eso que nos afecta y esta dañando el genero?

Buxxi, no es nada personal contra usted, es mas, nisiquiera lo conozco (y tampoco me interesa después de tantos episodios negativos) pero en estas épocas de navidad, no le vendría mal una AUTO-EVALUACION, creame que se ve bastante triste que usted mismo, un isleño que puede aportarle mucho al genero, este haciendole “el cajón” a sus mismos colegas de la isla, no juegue sucio !!!, tarde o temprano en la vida todo se devuelve y al doble, ojalá y usted no sea víctima de sus propios inventos. Le voy a dar un consejo gratis (por que es navidad  y es época de paz): Uno siembra, para recoger….. y este articulo, es muestra de que tu cosecha es todo un semillero de “mala hierba”. Y creo que no voy a sacar mas “trapos sucios” por que acá me quedaría un buen rato, ademas por que creo que ya fue suficiente, el resto de cosas realmente no me constan y ante todo acá somos objetivos. Respecto a su “anti-eticas” practicas, pues lo dicho, si haz de competir compite con CALIDAD Y BUENA MUSICA, no con dinero, ni influencias y menos jugando “sucio”, eso; dejelo para los mediocres, aunque;  será que es que todo esto demuestra que tu haces parte de este “selecto” grupo ?

Concluyo diciendo que el genero Colombiano necesita menos buenos artistas (por que ya los hay) y mas personas leales. El objetivo de la música urbana de Colombia es el mismo para todos, y no hay por que poner zancadilla a los mismos que nos ayudan a empujar esa puerta llamada éxito.

Y para evitar malos entendidos con la gente que lee los artículos, y sacan conclusiones, les dejo mi correo personal y el correo del portal, esto con el animo de evitar habladurías y rumores que involucran a personas que nada tienen que ver, por parte de los mismos artistas que acá son expuestos

El pasado Viernes 27 de Noviembre se postergo el concierto “REGGAETON FESTIVAL DE VACACIONES” en la ciudad de Medellin con la presencia de : Angel y Khriz, J. King y Maximan, Eloy (no se quien es, Mentiras sí se, el que canta con Zion una cancion de esas), Baby rasta & Gringo,

Tego Calderon y por Colombia Yelsid (esta super pegao en Medellin y es de los que si CANTA en el genero Nacional), no se sabe por que los empresarios tomaron la decision de aplazarlo, se dice que lo movieron para el 19 de Diciembre, no es por que yo sea “ave de mal aguero” pero esa fecha es ¡Fatal!, así con signos de admiracion y todo, en esa fecha ya todos los jovenes de colegios y universidades andan es pensando en Vacaciones, o estan en la Finca de los papás o salieron de la ciudad, mejor dicho esta es una fecha donde todo el mundo anda pensando en  la natilla y los buñuelos, la “marranada y los regalos, recordemos que hace menos de 3 años en la ciudad de Medellin realizaron un 16 de Diciembre el concierto de Daddy Yankee, Zion, Ñejo y Dalmata, Miguelito y por Colombia Final, ese dia asistierón al estadio Atanacio Girardot alrededor de 14.000 catorce mil personas (Muy poca Gente) y fuera de eso Zion se quedo con “los crespos hechos” ese dia, por que la mujer de Daddy Yankee se entero que entre las bailarinas de Zion estaba una “Tipa” (asi llaman a las mujeres los boricuas) que se habia acostado con Yankee y la señora se lleno de Ira y decidio no permitir que Zion se presentara.

Diciembre es un mes “Flojo” para los conciertos, todo el mundo y cuando digo todo el mundo es todo el mundo, anda pensando en la matricula para el colegio de sus hijos o los regalos para el 24 de Diciembre  o como lo llaman en medellin “el traido” de Navidad.

Pero tal vez lo curioso de esto no es el aplazamiento como tal, no es la primera vez que un evento se aplaza, y tampoco será el ultimo, mas bien, lo que me dio a entender paralelamente, fue que la economia de la industria “Reggaetonera” ya no es la misma de hace 8 años, donde este genero era “de barrio” y tenia muchos seguidores por que precisamente era “barato”. Analicemos rápidamente. Empecemos por recalcar que la boletería para asistir a este tipo de eventos es muy costosa. No hay derecho en ir a pagar 65.000 mil pesos (ese es el precio de la boleta mas barata es decir la entrada a la localidad de General) me refiero a este FESTIVAL DE RREGAETON que se acaba de aplazar, hagamos cuentas; $65.000 la boleta mas barata y sume 2 por que usted no va solo, va con la novia o su novio y ahì son ya 130.000 ciento treinta mil pesos, y fuera de eso que a la niña le dio por comer perro con gaseosa, el perro vale 5.000 mil pesos y la gaseosa 5.000 mil también (dentro de la plaza de toros ), y como son 2 entonces son 20.000 pesos, ya vamos en $150.000 mil pesos (y eso que estoy solo hablando que no consumió mayor cosa ) seguimos; Suponga que usted se “perrio” todo el concierto y necesita terminar lo que usted empezo con la ropa puesta, entonces le figuro moteliada y el costo de un motel (el rato) le vale 65.000 mil pesos, ahì vamos ya en 215.000  doscientos quince mil pesos, continuamos…el costo del trasnporte por bien que le vaya y esto incluye TODOS los transportes es decir llegar a la plaza de toros, salir de la plaza de toros, irse para el motel, salir del motel, llevar a la nena a la casa  de ella y su transporte para llegar ha su casa, y eso le sale barato en 40.000 mil pesos, ah! se me olvido! si a la nena despues de salir del motel le da hambre?? ademas usted no va ser tan “chichipato” de irse a moteliar con solo haberle ofrecido a la nena un perro y una gaseosa en la plaza de Toros, y donde me dejas el trago ?? comida despues de la moteliada…20.000 veinte mil pesos, media de aguardiente…10.000 diez mil. Gran Total: $285.000 Doscientos Ocheinta y Cinco mil pesos Moneda Corriente, la mitad de lo que cuesta mercar para una semana en un hogar conformado para 4 personas, asi que si usted le pidio plata a su papà para ir… pues lo “bailo el indio”!!! A no ser de que usted trabaje o lo patrocine alguien, por eso les digo que asistir a un concierto hoy en dia es muy costoso, creo que le sale mas barato encontrarse con su pareja a las afueras de la plaza de toros, darle trago hasta seducirla, invitarla a comer “chuzo” o mazorca a las afueras de la plaza de toros y rumbo a la moteliada, o mas facil reuna a 100 amigos que como usted quieran ir al concierto y esten dispuestos a gastarse la misma plata, junten la platica, y tendran 28 millones 500, suficiente para traer por lo menos a la mitad del cartel de cantantes del dichoso “Festival de vacaciones” y ponerlos a cantar en la sala de su casa, hasta la hora que le de la gana, sin pagar boleteria, metiendo el trago que quiera, y sobre todo con el motel incluido por si se le alborota la hormona.

Bueno, disculpen todos los lectores, pero no habia tenido la oportunidad de escribir otro articulo desde hace tiempo. Lo que pasa es que tengo un nuevo trabajo y los horarios se han tornado un poco dispendiosos, pero como siempre, aca regreso con otro “A Fondo”, seccion alabada por muchos y odiada por otros, mas informacion en la entrada extendida.

Este fin de semana pude ver la maraton musical de los Simpson, me encontraba haciendo Zapping y termine mirando 3 capitulos musicales de esta conocida serie, recorde el grupo Acapella de Homero; “Los Borbotones”, tambien vi como Marge entraba a un espectaculo tipo Broadway y finalmente presentaron el capitulo que inspiro este articulo. Capitulo en el cual, un tal “LT Smash” convoca a varios integrantes de la primaria Springfield para que hagan parte de la banda de “Luxor”, la banda empieza su proceso de produccion, pero cuando llegan a eso de “La Cantada” se dan cuenta de que todos tienen una pesima voz, asi pues, el productor saca una maquina conocida como “Magic Studio” que con solo encenderla, permite que todos los integrantes canten increiblemente bien.

En realidad esta maquina no esta del todo lejos de la realidad, en estos tiempos de tecnología constante un artista se desarrolla en gran medida en estudio. Aun asi, la brecha entre Arte y Talento cada dia se vuelve mas grande, es asi como pienso abordar de manera definitiva el tema de la herramienta llamada Auto-Tune la cual ha supuesto bastantes defensores y detractores por estos dias.

BREVE REPASO AL AUTO-TUNE

Por la década de los 90’s el geofísico Andy Gildebrand utilizaba su conocimiento para desarrollar programas de audio que permitieran a las empresas petrolíferas detectar movimientos sísmicos que permitieran la ubicación de nuevos yacimientos de petróleo. Su algoritmo podia modificarse de manera que permitía detectar una nota fuera de afinación y llevarla a la nota mas próxima dentro del pentagrama.

En 1997 Auto-tune ve la luz con su salida al mercado a travez de la empresa Antares, dueña de la marca y la patente como tal. Inicialmente, la herramienta fue empleada en la industria musical para corregir interpretaciones de instrumentos musicales, los cuales, en figuras armonicas complejas siempre dejaban alguno que otro tono en el camino, y auto-tune, se encargaba de corregirlo y asi ganar tiempo en produccion. Con el paso del tiempo, y las posteriores actualizaciones del producto auto-tune facilitaba mucho mas las cosas, hasta el punto de poder trabajar en tiempo real y no solo con lineas de instrumentos si no tambien, con la voz humana.

Es acá cuando se inicia un abanico de posibilidades creativas a la hora de producir cualquier producto musical.

Artistas como Akon, Kanye West, Lil Wayne y T. Pain, resaltan por la sobre utilizacion de esta herramienta, hasta el punto de generar detractores de la misma, que ven en ella una alternativa poco natural para la realizacion de piezas musicales. Las diferencias han llegado a tal punto que incluso raperos de tradicion como Jay Z, han iniciado un movimiento en contra de la utlizacion de este tipo de correctores y/o efectos tonales, que se inaguro con la salida del sencillo D.O.A (Death Of Auto-tune) que hace una critica bastante directa a esta herramienta.

EFECTO VOCAL O CORRECTOR DE ARMONIAS

La linea tracendental de los artistas que mas exito han tenido siempre se ha fijado en la capacidad de ser Armonicos, las voces mas destacada de las ultimas decadas han brillado por luz propia, Celine Dion, Lucciano Pavarotti, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston son voces que nos hacen recordar por que la musica transmite sensaciones. Hay otros artistas, que seguramente no tienen “la voz” pero si tienen la capacidad lirical, y otros que no tienen ni lo uno, ni lo otro. Es aca cuando viene a relacion los famosos correctores vocales y los “pecados” que puede tener.

Un efecto vocal, es aquel que se aplica sobre una onda o señal previamente procesada, le da propiedades especiales y permite un dinamismo de rango mas profesional. Los efectos mas comunes son la reverberacion (revert), el retraso (delay) y el eco (echo). Hay uno en especial que es el corazon de todos los efectos vocales, me refiero a El Pitch, que no es mas que la regularizacion de la velocidad sobre el muestreo de una onda, su aplicacion altera directamente el sonido de manera notable.

Pero que pasa cuando el pitch es tratado de manera “disimulada” y entonces empieza a corregir todos esos errores que quedaron grabados?

Un correcto de armonias difiere de un efecto vocal por que su aplicacion es “variable”, un efecto vocal es “constante”, esta es la primera diferencia. Lo segundo que hay que anotar, es que un corrector armonico es simplemente “automatico”, no tiene gusto de ningun tipo y reacciona a lo que se le haya programado. Para entender esto hay que partir de que todos estos correctores trabajan con una escala de notas “clave” que son las que determinan hasta donde expandirse o contraer las correcciones, estas notas definen un PRINCIPIO y un FIN, y en esa linea (grande o pequeña) es donde hay todo un abanico de posibilidades.

Los efectos sobre las voces se han vuelto bastante comunes desde la decada de los 80’s, tanto asi, que es raro encontrar una voz no “tratada” digitalmente, pero es precisamente por esto cuando se desatan las confusiones, y es que intentar ver un “Corrector” armonico como un efecto es el error mas grave de todos los productores y/o artistas. El resultado de una mala aplicacion de un corrector de voces es lo que GENERA EL EFECTO que otros reconocen, esto en realidad es una malversacion del sentido original del corrector, que esfuerza en sobre manera su algortimo para “acomodar” de manera forzada todo aquello que no este dentro del rango de afinacion programado.

Es por eso, que muchas producciones al exagerar su uso, solo logran definir la voz principal como otro elemento digital mas de la producción.

ENTONCES QUE ES LO MALO DE USAR CORRECTORES ARMONICOS ?

En realidad no tienen nada de malo, a mi parecer es una combinacion de 2 cosas: Forma y Fondo

Lo primero que tienen que entender aquellos que usan correctores es que ESTO NO TE HACE CANTAR, esto te hace sonar “menos desafinado” pero no es la solucion a los problemas de interpretacion. Acto seguido viene la manera en como se aplique, la receta es de cada quien, lo que si es claro es que hay que tener un leve concepto armonico para poder usarlo, el truco estara en sonar lo MENOS DIGITAL POSIBLE.

Pero ademas, de esto, debemos pensar que las soluciones de “Estudio” son bastante cómodas por estos dias, asi que por muy buena aplicacion que se haga de los efectos y otros “adornos” siempre resulta la pregunta; Como se respalda todo esto en un show en vivo? Lo logico, y como ya es habitual, desde que existen los fonogramas, las personas inconcientemente quieren escuchar “Esa” cancion en vivo, lo mas parecido a lo que llevan escuchandola por sus propios medios, entonces, a no ser de que se cuente con el hardware suficiente para respaldar todo esto, no es aconsejable hacer aplicaciones complejas de la herramienta.

Otro elemento en contra, es la dependencia que genera al interprete este tipo de herramientas. Es complicado cuando se acostumbra totalmente a esto, pues a la hora de la ejecucion, la naturalidad de la interpretacion estara totalmente consumida, y el factor humano de la voz es solo una figura confusa.

Los otros elementos en contra, ademas de los ya expuestos, son de caracter mas moral y precisan ser realmente estudiados, pues como en todas las polemicas, el punto de vista es el que tiene le mayor protagonismo, analizemos; Algunos consideran al auto-tune una amenaza para la industria musical, permitiendo que cualquier persona con o sin preparacion alguna, pueda “cantar”, esto en resumen es la parte gruesa de la situación, no obstante

MI CONCLUSION

Personalmente pienso que el Auto-tune no te hace cantar, te hace sonar afinado, e incluso, eso de hacerte sonar afinado aun es un concepto ambiguo, mas aun en la musica urbana. Lo principal es entender que lo que consideramos “flow” es por que precisamente va en contra del standar de “Afinacion” tradicional, esto no quiere decir que no respete dicho parametros, por el contrario, pienso que para “romper” una regla, hay que conocerla bastante bien.

Si sonar como un “robot” es sinonimo de cantar, entonces cualquiera puede hacerlo, pero NO CUALQUIERA puede pensar que eso es cantar, si de eso se tratase, entonces Albin y las ardillas, el osito gomilona, el chichicuilote recibirian un premio, pues todos suenan afinados, pero en realidad estan cantando? Revisen los links para que vean de que hablo.

Para terminar, defino que el auto-tune, el melodine, el tunenote y otros programas de software y hardware son solo HERRAMIENTAS, y no SOLUCIONES definitivas. Cantar es un don de los humanos, el manejo armónico de la voz es una característica de ello, no podemos pretender que una maquina solucionara un problema de consecuencia, tal vez logre hacerlo menos peor, pero eso este tiempo de remiendos siempre serán igual que intentar tapar el sol con un dedo.

Bueno antes que nada quiero darle las gracias a los propietarios de esta pagina por la oportunidad que me dan de escribir, como dijo el burro mocho: “Mamá estoy triunfando…mandeme pal’ pasaje para irme pa’ la casa”. El asunto es el siguiente; a finales de agosto y comienzos de Septiembre aparecio por aqui en la ciudad de Medellin  el conocido artista del genero urbano o reggaetonero que llaman  Nicky jam , lo trajo un empresario a promoción, es decir le pagan los tiquetes aereos, le pagan el hotel, los viaticos etc., y el empresario se encarga de hacerle promocion al artista en la radio, la tv local, y los periodicos de la ciudad. El artista a cambio le da un par de shows al empresario o promotor.

Pues “don” Nicky jam llego a Medellin muy “tieso y muy majo”como rin rin renacuajo (el del cuento del poeta Colombiano Rafale Pombo), con ese aire de “estrella” mala clase, rebelde sin causa ante las emisoras de radio, especialmente en ENERGIA ST Medellin, dirigida por el buen Hz quien en la entrevista que le realizaba al artista se le dio por preguntarle “¿que  piensa Nicky Jam de haber compartido tarima y haber grabado canciones con Daddy Yankee  y ver que Daddy Yankee  es un icono a nivel mundial y usted no?, pues “Don” Nicky se salio de “chiros” como dicen las viejas y le respondio de una manera muy grosera a Hz saliendo rapidamente  de la cabina de la emisora enfurecido como Hulk, rumbo a la calle por que no soporto que le dijeran la verdad en la cara.

Estuvo aqui un par de semanas, aproximadamente 30 dias haciendo duo con algunos artistas locales, haciendo un par de shows  en algunas discotecas y finalmente se marcho de nuevo a puerto rico.

Le gusto tanto el Plan que se devolvio de Puerto Rico  y se Radico a Vivir a Medellin hace aproximadamente 10 dias , el hombre llego cobrando por Show en discoteca, coliseo, salón comunal entre un millón y medio y dos millones y medio por show algo que tiene impresionados a varios artistas del genero de la ciudad, dicen por ahi que Nicky esta cobrando esa suma ya que para el y varios artistas del genero de “la vieja escuela” es mas provechos estar en Colombia donde los “consienten” con prostitutas, licor y drogas. Lo mas triste es que esto es patrocinado por sus propios “Fans”, que vivieron la musica de su idolo tiempo atrás y al verlo aqui en Medellín, pues claro se le postran a sus pies (como la mayoria de los colombianos  con un cantante) extranjero y lo complacen casi en todo.

Estos artistas por el corte de Nicky Jam ya no estan “pegados” en la Isla del encanto  Puerto Rico, no los contratan para Shows, entonces como aqui se les arrodillan, pues ellos aporvechan y se viene para acá hacer de las suyas  imponiendo sus condiciones y caprichos de niños rebeldes… ahi les dejo el dato.

Como es habitual en las vacaciones de fin de año, los artistas empiezan a sacar a “la calle” sus nuevos sencillos, y obviamente Heartan Lever o Jiggy Drama no es la excepción. Jiggy trae “La Flaka” un Dancehall con un ritmo bastante peculiar, diferente, como ya es costumbre en las producciones de Jiggy. “La Flaka” es su primer sencillo oficial como solista despues de la separacion de su antiguo grupo S.A Finest. El single no cuenta con ninguna participacion, es interpretado por Jiggy en su totalidad. La produccion estuvo a cargo del estudio urbano El Ritmo Records, y la mezcla fue realizada por Dj Sheky.

Sus primeros álbumes fueron grabados con Isol como cantante principal, pero desde su alejamiento en 2005 han trabajado con diferentes vocalistas, tanto en vivo como en el estudio. Boy & Bear – Mexican Mavis
En cantautor de Sydney Dave Hosking ha tomado una nueva dirección con su nuevo traje de Boy & Bear. Al lanzar a fin del año pasado su primer EP, Marmalade Hill, Hosking decidió abandonar las canciones del álbum (que todavía me gustaban mucho) y empezar de cero, buscando un sonido más maduro y original. El productor de este primer EP, Andrew Macken, demostró ser un gran colaborador gracias a su intrincado acercamiento hacia los arreglos y la producción.

Astro – Raifilter
Junto a los electro-poppers Moustrache, Astro (Andrés Nusser y Octavio Cavieres) es una de esas nobles bandas que cultivan el sonido de MGMT o The Knife -justo en el límite del espectro nocturno del pop- adquiriendo una buena combinación de simplicidad y una gran dosis de contagiosa diversión en su álbum debut Le Disc Du Astrou. Siguiendo este camino, Railfilter es una canción con una melodía muy simple, el resultado de intensos arreglos y excelentes vocales por cortesía de Nusser, quien da forma a un tema playero que nos da la excusa perfecta para organizar una fiesta eterna.

Antonina – Itsuyorimo
Cuando Helene Vetik comenzó a escribir música tocaba en las calles para ganar dinero, formó una banda punk escolar que no duró mucho y cantó en fiestas de empresas. Sin embargo, fue cuando empezó a grabar sus viejas canciones en clave electro-pop lo-fi que se unió a Zanduro (teclado) y Mihkel Masso (guitarra) para formar Antonina.

Cleaning Women – Across The Void
Desde el planeta Clinus 1 los robots CW01, CW03 y CW04 (que sustituyó a CW02, desaparecido en acción) crean música industrial vanguardista usando una gran variedad de instrumentos, lineas de rock, algunos beats de jazz y mucho funk. El trío acaba de lanzar su tercer álbum, U, que incluye algunos tracks futuristas que bien podrían ser parte de una novela de Philip K. Dick. Uno de estos es el instrumental Across The Void, un buen ejemplo de la espeluznante música atmosférica que pueden hacer estos higiénicos robots.

Kitsch Device es un grupo salido directamente de la escena parisina. Comenzaron tocando como un hobby, pero ahora se pasean por las salas de conciertos de Paris y siempre es entretenido verlos por su estilo y profesionalismo. Is This Home Now? trae una melodía folk-rock que te hará sacudir tu cabeza y golpear el suelo con tu pie siguiendo el ritmo.

Candelilla es un grupo de cuatro chicas basado en Munich. Su impulsivo sonido no soporta esquemas – varía desde Dresden Dolls a Sonic Youth, del grunge punky al indie vanguardista. Baterías directas acompañan al piano, apetitivas guitarras dan énfasis a las sucias lineas de bajo, todo realzado por las voces en staccato. #13 es el primer single de su álbum debut reasonreasonreasonreason.

Giannis Aggelakas – Volta Sto Dasos
Psyhi Vathia es el soundtrack de una película dirigida por Pantelis Voulgaris. Tiene lugar en 1949 y relata la historia de dos hermanos que combaten en distintos bandos durante la guerra civil Griega. Giannis Aggelakas, quien fuese cantante y compositor de la legendaria banda rock Trypes, compone una pista absorvente emocionalmente, que hereda de la música tradicional. Melodías instrumentales tristes y evocativas con elementos contemporáneos coalescen con matices étnicos que describen la era y reflejan el ánimo del filme. Volta Sto Dasos (“Caminata en los Bosques”) es un track maravilloso que refleja los dos elementos de la película – dolor y esperanza – a través del lamento del violín y la serenidad de la guitarra.

Kimono es un trio de rock experimental provenientes de Reykjavik y Halifax, Canada. Han lanzado tres álbumes, el último en colaboración con el productor islandés Curver (de Ghostigital). Black estará en su próximo cuarto álbum, Easy Music For Difficult People.

Pinknoise – Dream Dream
Pinknoise es una banda de rock experimental de Kolkata que toma las sensibilidades nu-jazz y las combina con un rock de guitarras anguladas. Dream Dream forma parte de un DVD en vivo que será lanzado próximamente. Es el jam abierto y espacioso por excelencia que la lider Jayashree Singh orquesta con su banda. Con cambios de tempo entre medio y atmósfera perezosa, son cinco divertidos minutos por la tierra de la holgazanería.

Sebastian X are an impressive Tokyo-based outfit with indie-pop and punkish leanings. Their brilliant debut album Wonderful World was finally released last week. The band, who don’t use guitars, have catchy melodies driven by the cute pop vocal of Manatsu Nagahara.

Pepepe (feat. Cyane) – Sleep With You
Here is a track from Pepepe’s latest album, Roba Orgón de Plantas y Animales, released on the Poni Republic label. Pepepe is one of the monikers of Pesina Siller, a 21-year-old electronic musician and visual artist who was ranked among the top 50 in Radiohead’s Reckoner remix contest. He’s the kid behind various projects that show the multiple faces to his mystic persona, with sounds that go from dubstep to psychedelic folk. This song is full of clicks, cuts, lots of aleatory processing and a beautiful collaboration with Guadalajara’s vocalist Cyane.

Psychic Powers – Wellington
Psychic Powers are an international duo – Nik Brinkman is a New Zealander and Alejandro Cohen is from Los Angeles. The two collaborate on songwriting from opposite sides of the world via the internet. This piece of very 80s sounding synth-pop is about Nik’s home town, New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington – bringing together the local and the global in a way that seems purpose made for the Music Alliance Pact. The song has been released on 7″ vinyl by US label Geographic North.
NORWAY: Eardrums
Kråkesølv – Privat Regn
Kråkesølv is a quartet from Bodø, a town in the north of Norway. They sing in their dialect and their music can be put somewhere between pop, indie and post-rock. The band have received much acclaim for their lyrics and the reviews of their recently released debut, Trådnøsting, have been very positive.
PERU: SoTB
Los Protones – Swinging Lima
Los Protones are an instrumental band formed in Lima in 2007 who play in a style that combines psychedelia, surf and garage-rock. Their self-titled debut CD was released in February 2009 by the Peruvian label Discos Gordos. It is an album where there are no words, although they’re not necessary – the guitar solos are the universal language and the titles of songs such as El Desvío paint pictures that could easily relate to the soundtrack of our experiences.

Silent Strike (Ioan Titu) is a 27-year-old electronic music composer and sound designer from Bacau. He is influenced by Aphex Twin, Future Sound Of London, Orbital and opened for Faithless and Bonobo. 27 is a little gem of electronic sounds arranged in an acoustic manner and it was released for his birthday.

The Unwinding Hours – Knut
The Unwinding Hours have quietly risen from the ashes of the much-loved Aerogramme and the early evidence suggests they’re going to be every bit as wondrous as their former guise. All the ingredients are there – the gorgeously gentle pacing, the elegant orchestration, Craig B’s yearning vocals. Knut, taken from their self-titled debut album due out early next year on Chemikal Underground, is a MAP exclusive sanctioned by the band and their record label.

Lunarin – Ariel (File Under Easy Listening remix)
Singapore is a small country, so we’ve formed a rather close-knit bunch of musicians and friends. One such collaboration between friends happens to be The Lard Brothers’ remix of Lunarin’s Ariel. While a relatively new group, The Lard Brothers have been busy making waves spinning as a DJ group and religiously reworking many classic songs by Singaporean bands. Their efforts don’t go unrecognised with this trip-hop laced remix of Ariel by the melodic rock band, Lunarin, perfect for the monsoon season that’s hitting our shores just about now.

Die Heuwels Fantasties – Our Heritage
Die Heuwels Fantasties are an Afrikaans group, incorporating elements of many genres, from hip-hop beats, flat out dance beats, to rap and rock sounds. Die Heuwels Fantasties teamed up with The Soweto Gospel Choir, HHP and JR to produce a song for Heritage Day. The song is called Our Heritage and features Pierre Greeff of Die Heuwels Fantasties singing in English. All in all, it’s a song with the message to celebrate our heritage and our unity as South Africans – artfully combining the many different cultural spheres into a feelgood track.

Playgirl – Happy Mania
Female trio Playgirl emerged in September with a retro pop sound from a time when James Bond was still played by Sean Connery. Inspired by The Pipettes, equipped with identical outfits and cute dance moves, Playgirl is currently the most adorable act to come out of Korea.
SWEDEN: Swedesplease
Madamm – Örnen
There’s very little info online about this mostly all-girl group from Gothenburg. I was struck by the band’s wanton energy and the loose nature of their songs. Örnen is a demo so who knows what its final shape may be, but I hope they retain the song’s raw energy.
TURKEY: Reset!
Bon Mod – Chocolate Cheesecake
Chemistry is all there is to a band. After meeting about a year ago, the duo started working together instantly as Bon Mod. They take their love of partying and a reckless attitude to make indie, electro and disco-flavored songs. They are possibly the most exciting new band for the season ahead.
UNITED STATES: I Guess I’m Floating
People Eating People – All The Hospitals
People Eating People is the solo work of Nouela Johnston, previously known for her work with Pacific Northwestern act Mon Frere. Her self-titled debut LP is a blending of Fiona Apple’s emotion with Regina Spektor’s penchant for melody. All The Hospitals is a catchy tune – we’ll see if Johnston can separate herself from the crowded female pack.
VENEZUELA: Barquisimeto Musical
Amigos Invisibles – Mentiras
Amigos Invisibles (“Invisible Friends”) has been around the alternative/funk/pop local scene for many years. Their groovy rhythms and funny lyrics, filled with Venezuelan pop culture, made them legends in their country and finally got the attention of music lovers worlwide, touring Latin America, USA and Australia. They signed with David Byrne’s Luaka Pop label in 1996. To celebrate their Latin Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album, I have selected a song from that record, Comercial, called Mentiras.
